Paul Müller (sculptor)

Paul Müller (born March 12, 1843 in Mergelstetten , † April 24, 1906 in Stuttgart ) was a German sculptor .

Müller was initially trained in chasing and engraving and then turned to sculpture. After training at the Stuttgart Art School with Theodor von Wagner and the Dresden Art Academy with Johannes Schilling , he traveled to Austria, France and Italy.

Works (selection)
His works included the sculpture of a sleeping Cupid , a frieze Orestes persecuted by the Furies , a Goethe statue (1874) and the bride of Corinth . He worked mainly in Stuttgart. The execution of a bust of the Württemberg King Karl led to further commissions for monumental works, including the statue of Duke Christoph (1889) or the large sculpture for the 75th anniversary of the Kingdom of Württemberg , the so-called Eberhard group in the Stuttgart Palace Garden , which is based on the poem Der richest prince of Justinus Kerner refers.
