Paul Matzdorf
Paul Matzdorf (born March 7, 1864 in Altrüdnitz ; † January 3, 1930 ) was a German educator , youth writer , sculptor and medalist . For a long time he published the series “Jugend und Volksbühne” (around 500 issues) and made numerous contributions to this series.
Life
Matzdorf was a teacher; He started his first job in 1884 in Adamsdorf , from 1885 to 1890 he was a teacher in Soldin , from 1890 he was a teacher in Cöthen (now part of Falkenberg ).
Matzdorf wrote numerous writings for young people in the series “Jugend- und Volksabend” and “Jugend und Volksbühne” for the Leipziger Strauch-Verlag.
As a visual artist, he designed a bronze plaque for a memorial stone that commemorates Theodor Fontane in Falkenberg . The Fontane plaque he designed has been awarded since 1911 (slightly modified in the meantime) by the Landesgeschichtliche Vereinigung für die Mark Brandenburg . Matzdorf u. a. a death mask from Beethoven.
In 1924 Matzdorf had a villa built for himself and his family in what is now Falkenberg. After the transfer back and subsequent renovation in 1993, the villa is a hotel that is also run by a granddaughter of Matzdorf.
