Paul Metzger (theologian)

Paul Metzger (* 1973 in Meisenheim am Glan) is a German theologian and pastor of the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate .

Life

Metzger grew up in Roth (Bad Kreuznach district) and Kaiserslautern . He studied Protestant theology at the Bethel Church University (Bielefeld), the University of Marburg , the Facoltà Valdese di Teologia in Rome and the University of Heidelberg . From 2000 to 2005 he was a research assistant in the Protestant Theology department at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz with Otto Böcher and Christof Landmesser . Since then he has been teaching as a lecturer in Koblenz. From 2009 to 2017 he was a Catholica consultant at the denominational institute of the Evangelical Federation in Bensheim, where he was responsible for the areas of Catholic fundamental theology , dogmatics as well as theological epistemology and biblical theology . He has been the owner of the Ludwigshafen-Pfingstweide parish office since 2017 . Metzger is a board member of the Palatinate Biblical Association, with numerous broadcast devotions involved in church preaching activities in the Southwest Broadcasting Corporation (SWR) and delegate of the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate in the Working Group of Christian Churches in Germany and Switzerland (ACK) Region Southwest. In 2018, based on a format of the Evangelical Adult Education Center in North Rhine-Westphalia, he founded the “ Laien-Uni Theologie Pfalz”, which enables interested people to get to know theology as a science on an elementary basis.
