Paul Pabst (painter)

Paul Pabst (born September 12, 1889 in Halle (Saale) , German Empire , † July 23, 1970 ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

Live and act

Paul Pabst's father Alfred Pabst was a goldsmith in Halle. The sister Margareta Fries wrote texts for two hymn book songs. Paul Pabst trained at the industrial drawing and craft school (later the Burg Giebichenstein School of Applied Arts ) in Halle from 1904 to 1907 (?) And at the Dresden School of Applied Arts , among others with Richard Guhr , from 1911 to 1913.

He then worked as a decorative painter in Halle, Berlin , Leipzig and Chemnitz , among other places . In the 1920s, Pabst was a member of the artists' association on the plow in Halle and at times on the local board of the Reich Association of German Artists . In 1928 he went on a long trip to Italy and Switzerland .

In 1945 Paul Pabst worked as a set designer at the Steintor Varieté . He mainly created drawings, but also lithographs , woodcuts and other works.
