Paul Revellio

Paul Revellio (born September 24, 1886 in Hüfingen ; † July 1, 1966 in Villingen ) was a German teacher and local researcher .

Live and act

Revellio was born the son of the printer Carl Revellio. He first attended the elementary school in Hüfingen and then the grammar school in Donaueschingen . He then studied history at the University of Freiburg and received his doctorate there in 1913 under Heinrich Finke with a dissertation on Hans the scholar von Schellenberg . After the state examination in 1911, he first worked at the grammar school in Donaueschingen. In 1914 he took a leave of absence to become an assistant at the Roman-Germanic Commission in Frankfurt, but was soon called up for military service. From 1919 he worked as a high school in Villingen , from 1920 as a high school professor . He was released in 1945, reinstated after denazification in 1948 and retired in 1952.

In addition, from 1921 he was the city archivist and curator of the municipal collections, today's Franciscan Museum, in Villingen and in this function published numerous articles on the early history and art history of his homeland. He promoted the establishment and maintenance of the Villingen collections. In particular, he made significant contributions to the research of prehistoric and early historical sites in the Baar .
