Paul Rotach

Paul Rotach (born March 21, 1872 in Herisau , † November 4, 1955 in Waldstatt ; resident in Schwellbrunn and from 1898 in Herisau) was a Swiss educator , cantonal councilor and government councilor from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Paul Rotach was the son of Heinrich Rotach, a teacher and from 1876 civil registrar , and Anna Catharina Nägeli. In 1894 he married Sophie Schiess, daughter of Johannes Schiess, butcher , landlord and cattle dealer . After a broken apprenticeship as a cook , he attended the teachers' seminar in Kreuzlingen from 1889 . From 1903 to 1905 he studied psychology and education at the University of Zurich . From 1892 to 1895 he taught as a primary school teacher in Wienacht-Tobel (municipality of Lutzenberg ) and from 1895 to 1903 in Herisau. From 1905 to 1934 he was community clerk and councilor in Waldstatt. From 1908 to 1934 he was a member of the Ausserrhoder Cantonal Council . From 1915 to 1930 he was a member of the state school commission and from 1915 to 1934 of the cantonal juvenile court. He presided over it from 1928. From 1934 to 1941 he was a member of the Ausserrhoder government council of the police and tax authorities. From 1944 he headed the newly created Cantonal Bank Agency in Waldstatt. From 1903 he was a Freemason .
