Paul Schelhorn
Friedrich Paul Schelhorn (also Schellhorn ; born February 26, 1792 in Sonneberg , Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen , HRR ; † October 20, 1880 in Meiningen , Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen, German Empire ) was court painter and decorative painter in Meiningen, the capital and residence city from Sachsen-Meiningen .
Life
Born in Sonneberg, Paul Schelhorn studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1816 to 1822 with the help of a scholarship from the Duke of Saxony-Meiningen . On December 19, 1831 he was appointed court painter and decorative painter and inspector for the theater decorations of the Meiningen court theater . Schelhorn received the certificate of appointment for this on December 22, 1831 by Duke Bernhard II (Erich Freund) . His main activity related to the production of complete and detailed views of the city of Meiningen and tableaus as well as decorative painting .
Paul Schelhorn was also from 1835 the first drawing teacher of the Hereditary Prince Georg, the later Duke Georg II and later his children. From 1836 to 1870 he taught at the Meiningen Citizens' School.
