Paul Schuitema

Geert Paul Hendrikus Schuitema (born February 27, 1897 in Groningen , † October 25, 1973 in Wassenaar ) was a Dutch graphic designer. He also designed furniture, planned exhibitions and worked as a photographer, film director, painter. From 1932 to 1962 he was a lecturer in advertising design and photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague .

In the 1920s and 1930s, Schuitema, along with Piet Zwart and Gerard Kiljan in the Netherlands, was one of the pioneers of New Typography and New Photography and is considered one of the Dutch representatives of modernism .

In 1964, his works were shown in the graphics department at documenta III in Kassel .
