Life

After studying in Paris with Stephan Brulefer († around 1499), in the course of which he joined the scotist realism of his teacher, he was Scriptoris Guardian in the Franciscan convent in Tübingen . In the local barefoot monastery he gave lectures on mathematics , astronomy , geography and theology since 1494 . Scriptoris, who enjoyed great recognition as a teacher and preacher, was, alongside Konrad Pellikan, one of the critical theologians who openly advocated church reforms towards the end of the 15th century. He turned against, among other things, grievances regarding the sacraments, the indulgence trade and the vow .

Some of his students, like Konrad Pellikan, later joined the Reformation . After he was relieved of his offices in 1501 on charges of heresy and transferred to Basel, Scriptoris went to Rome in 1502 . Called to Toulouse by the order's leadership in 1505 , he died on the way there.

Among other things, he published Lectura [...] declarando subtilissimas Doctoris Subtilis sententias circa Magistrum in primo libro (1498).
