Paul Stein (mining engineer)

Paul Stein (born February 5, 1874 in Düsseldorf , † October 6, 1956 in Recklinghausen ) was a German mining assessor, mining engineer and general director of the Auguste Victoria colliery .

Life

After studying mining at the University of Freiburg , the Bergakademie Berlin and the Technical University of Aachen , Stein became commercial and technical director of the Auguste Viktoria trade union in 1903 and received general power of attorney on November 12, 1906. He kept the post of 1st director until 1939, when he was replaced by Gustav Schmid and until 1945 he was appointed general representative of the mine management board . For many years he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Brassert colliery and, in addition to managing the two companies, held numerous functions in mining committees. he was a member of the administrative board of IG Farben and from January 1931 president of the Münster Chamber of Commerce and Industry .

According to Georg von Schnitzler, he was a participant in the secret meeting of February 20, 1933 with Adolf Hitler and Hermann Göring .

family

Paul Stein's father was the Düsseldorf industrial councilor August Stein and founder of the Auguste Victoria colliery union in Marl Hüls. Paul Stein was married to Agnes, the daughter of the mining industrialist Emil Krabler ; with her he had six sons, two of whom also hit the mountain subject. His son Rudolf Stein was in charge of the rescue operations in the Lengede mine disaster in 1963 .
