Paul Steinlechner

Paul Steinlechner (born December 23, 1841 in Wattens , † January 12, 1920 in Graz ) was an Austrian legal scholar.

Life

Paul Steinlechner studied at the University of Innsbruck and the University of Padua Law . In 1861 he was reciprocated in the Corps Rhaetia . He completed his studies in Innsbruck in 1867 with a doctorate as Dr. iur. from. After stays at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the University of Padua, he became a private lecturer in Roman law at the University of Innsbruck in 1871 . In 1872 he was appointed associate professor for Austrian civil law and in 1878 he was appointed full professor for Austrian and Roman civil law. He was dean three times and rector of the University of Innsbruck in 1883/84 . In 1897 the University of Graz appointed him full professor for Austrian civil law. In 1903/04 he was dean here too. In 1913 he retired . From 1898 to 1917 he was chairman of the legal history state examination commission. His successor at the Graz chair was Armin Ehrenzweig . Steinlechner is an important representative of the historical-systematic direction of Austrian private law and the pandectistic term jurisprudence .
