Joachim Mbadu Kikhela Kupika

Joachim Mbadu Kikhela Kupika (born March 10, 1932 in Phuka Kumbi ; † March 12, 2019 in Kinshasa ) was a Congolese clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Boma .

Life

Joachim Mbadu Kikhela Kupika studied literature at Mbata-Kiela in Congo Central and then philosophy and theology at the Kabwe seminary in Kasaï . He was ordained a priest on April 12, 1959 and was incardinated in the clergy of the Boma diocese . He was active in pastoral care in Kangu and Bischumbe.

Pope Paul VI appointed him on January 30, 1975 Coadjutor Bishop of Boma and Titular Bishop of Zica . The Bishop of Tshumbe , Albert Tshomba Yungu , donated him episcopal ordination on August 17th of the same year ; Co - consecrators were Joseph-Albert Cardinal Malula , Archbishop of Kinshasa , and Pierre Kimbondo , Archbishop ad personam of Kisantu .

After Raymond Ndudi's resignation , he succeeded him on November 22, 1975 as Bishop of Boma. Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Belesasa on May 21, 2001 after his resignation .

In 1975 he became President of the National Bishops' Conference of the Congo.
