Life
Paul Thürey grew up with three older siblings in Hamburg's Rosenstrasse 17. After graduating from primary school, he learned the trades locksmith and mechanical engineer . Already during his apprenticeship he became a member of the DMV and the socialist workers' youth movement. From 1920 he was a member of the KPD , from 1922 also as a functionary of the agitprop department of the Hamburg KPD. On the night of October 20-21, 1942, he was arrested by the Gestapo . He was sentenced to death in the Hamburg communist trial and beheaded on June 26, 1944 together with Erich Heins , Karl Kock , Hans Köpke , Otto Mende , Ernst Mittelbach , Walter Reber , Wilhelm Stein , Kurt Vorpahl and Oskar Voss in the Hamburg remand prison.
