Paul Wobeser (* around 1525 in Western Pomerania ; † after 1588) was a Pomeranian mercenary leader and landowner.

Paul Wobeser was a son of Jakob Wobeser, the chancellor of Duke Barnim IX. had been in Stettin and Captain von Lauenburg . Paul Woberser was among the Pomeranian delegates at the Augsburg Reichstag in 1555 when the imperial and religious peace was proclaimed .

Wobeser played an important role in Prussian history at the height of the Skalić crisis in 1566, when the aged and politically ailing Prussian Duke Albrecht I of Brandenburg-Ansbach was under the influence of dubious favorites. In order to secure their positions of power in relation to the estates, the new ducal councilors Matthias Horn and Schnell had recruited troops, including a thousand-man horse troop. It was initially stated that Denmark should be supported militarily with the thousand horsemen . This actually seems to have been the original intention, because the riders had gathered in Travemünde , not far from the Danish border. When the riders were no longer needed by Denmark, the troop was not disbanded, but went to Danzig . The troops were commanded by the mercenary leader Paul Wobeser, who had been appointed colonel and had received extensive prescriptions for Pomeranian goods.

When Wobeser advanced from Gdansk to Königsberg in late summer , the Prussian Landtag, which was meeting in Königsberg, and the King of Poland pushed for the mercenaries to be dismissed. To reward the mercenaries, the estates granted the duke a loan. During the trial against the new councilors, Wobeser fled the Duchy of Prussia. He was stopped by the Duke Gotthard of Courland , but was released again. His property was confiscated. He is later mentioned as captain of Rügenwalde . He was married to Anna von Stojentin . Wobeser litigated the Prussian government in 1588 to enforce his demands.
