Paulhans Peters (born February 15, 1923 ; † October 1, 2011 in Munich ) was a German architect , architecture critic and publicist .

Life

Paulhans Peters studied architecture at RWTH Aachen University , where he was awarded a Dr.-Ing. Degree in 1951 with his work The urban development of Salzburg from the Middle Ages to the end of the Baroque . PhD . After working in the construction industry, he took over the management of the trade journal for architecture Baumeister , first published in 1902 , published by Callwey Verlag in Munich and its editor-in-chief from 1965 to 1991.

While Peters took a comparatively conservative position at this time, he became more involved in post-war modernism in later years . Along with Ulrich Conrads , Manfred Sack , Wolfgang Pehnt and Julius Posener, he was one of the most important German architecture journalists and architecture critics. In 1980 he received the BDA award for architectural criticism . He has published numerous essays, papers and books.

He was buried on October 18, 2011 in the St. Severin cemetery in Keitum .
