Pauline from Koudelka

Pauline Freiin von Koudelka (born September 8, 1806 in Vienna ; † July 30, 1840 there ) was an Austrian painter of the Viennese Biedermeier period .

She is known for her colorful still life and flower paintings . She began her training first with her artistically gifted father, the Imperial and Royal Field Marshal Lieutenant Vinzenz Joseph Freiherr von Koudelka (1773-1850). She later became a student of the Viennese flower painter Franz Xaver Petter (1791–1866) and was also strongly influenced by Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller . Since 1835 she was married to the politician and statesman Anton Ritter von Schmerling , with whom she had two daughters. She was the aunt of the Austro-Hungarian Vice Admiral Alfred Freiherr von Koudelka (1864–1947).
