He played the position of a classic "number 6" in the defensive midfield in front of the defense and was considered one of the most important players at VfB due to his strength in duels. He crowned his time at VfB by winning the German soccer championship in the 2006/07 season. In the cup final of 2007, he converted a penalty in the 80th minute of the game to equalize 2-2 against 1. FC Nürnberg and thus forced extra time, which VfB lost 3-2. He scored his first goal in the Champions League on November 27, 2007, with a 2-1 win against Glasgow Rangers.

After Sami Khedira had prevailed in the team's internal competition for the position in defensive midfield against Pardo and was even voted Footballer of the Month in December 2008 , Pardo returned to his old club Club America in Mexico in January 2009 . Pardo was not nominated for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa .
