Moonbeam

Moonbeam is a Russian DJ duo consisting of the brothers Witali and Pawel Chwalejew ( Russian Виталий Хвалеев and Павел Хвалеев ). They describe their musical style as a mixture of trance , progressive house , atmospheric techno and deep minimal.

Career

Vitali (born September 17, 1979 ) and Pawel (born May 27, 1984 ) were born in Naberezhnye Tschelny , in the Russian republic of Tatarstan . In 1999 Vitaly moved permanently to Nizhny Novgorod , where he had previously attended university. He started working as a DJ there. Five years later, his brother Pavel followed him to Nizhny Novgorod.

Pawel began producing his own tracks and remixes while he was still a student. At the beginning the brothers used the pseudonym "Black & Cap" for their collaboration. In 2003 they worked with the US vocalist Chris Lonsford , with whom they produced their first single "Raven True" and a little later "Consumption" and "Forgotten Gray". At his suggestion, they adopted the new pseudonym Moonbeam. At the beginning they mainly produced trance and atmospheric techno.

In 2005 Moonbeam founded Moonbeam Digital, the first Russian digital music label. In 2007 a collaboration began with the German music label Traum Schallplatten , which released their EPs "Eclipse" and "Spring Story". In the same year they also received contracts with the Dutch labels High Contrast Recordings , on which their EP "Cocoon" was released, and Black Hole Recordings , which released "I Love Mornings" and "See the Difference Inside" on their sublabel Songbird . The latter also received support from Tiësto , who included the song in his compilation In Search of Sunrise 6 .

Moonbeam also have some success with remixes. Her remix of “To Forever” by Rachael Starr appeared on Tiësto's compilation In Search of Sunrise 7 , among others . 2009 Moonbeam were first on the list of 100 top DJs by DJ Magazine selected. They started at number 76. At the end of the year, Armin van Buuren recorded her single "About You" on his annual compilation A State of Trance Yearmix 2009 . In 2010 they even reached number 42 on DJ Magazine's DJ list.
