Payacollo is a village in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Payacollo is the seventh largest town in the canton of Mallco Rancho in the municipality of Sipe Sipe in the province of Quillacollo . The village is located at the western end of the plain of Cochabamba at an altitude of 2548  m on the left, northeast bank of the Río Viloma shortly before its confluence with the Río Rocha , the main source of the Bolivian Río Grande .

Payacollo lies between the Bolivian Cordillera Central and the Cordillera Oriental in the transition area to the Bolivian lowlands.

The mean average temperature of the region is around 18 ° C (see climate diagram Cochabamba) and fluctuates only slightly between 14 ° C in June and July and 20 ° C in November. The annual precipitation is about 450 mm, with a pronounced dry season from May to September with monthly precipitation below 10 mm, and a rain maximum in January with 120 mm monthly precipitation.

Payacollo is located at a distance of 21 kilometers by road west of Cochabamba , the capital of the department.

From Cochabamba the paved road Ruta 4 leads west over the town of Quillacollo past Vinto towards Sipe Sipe . Payacollo is right in front of the bridge that spans the Viloma River.

Due to the historically grown population distribution, the region has a high proportion of Quechua population, in the municipality of Sipe Sipe 83.9 percent of the population speak the Quechua language.
