The peak 38 (also Shar Tse II or Shartsey II ) is a seven thousand at the boundary between the Khumbu region of Nepal and Tibet southeast of Mount Everest .
Due to its low notch height of only 40 meters, it is not considered a separate mountain. It is a continuation of the Lhotse - Nuptse ridge about 2.2 km east of the Lhotse Shar ( 8415 m ). In the further course of the summit ridge, Shartse and Pethangtse follow to the east , before finally the Makalu massif rises.
