The Pearl.GmbH (proper spelling PEARL.GmbH ; formerly Pearl Agency General mediation mbH ) is a German mail order company that was originally only PC software - hardware and accessories offered, now also carries products from other areas such. B. Household Products. Pearl is headquartered in Buggingen in the Markgräflerland .

history

The mail order company Pearl was founded on September 6, 1989 in Bad Krozingen and began as a one-man business with the sale of shareware via Trend Verlag. While it was initially the success of the shareware magazine DOS-Trend that established itself on the magazine market, in the early 1990s it was possible to open a new market with a concept that was unique at the time: Renowned games and user programs in licensed full versions - initially on diskette , later on CD-ROM - were distributed through the newsagents together with a magazine. In this way, 124 titles with a circulation of over 30 million were published. With DVD titles such as "Eisenbahn.exe", "Alles über eBay" and "LingoMAXX", TREND GmbH also established its products in the discount and retail sectors.

In 1991 the Pearl Agency Allgemeine Vermittlungsgesellschaft mbH moved to Buggingen. Hardware such as scanners, modems, sound cards, etc. were later offered in the magazines distributed by Pearl. The first edition of the Pearl catalog appeared in May / June 1995 with 48 pages. Also in 1995 the first issue of the full version game magazine Bestseller Games followed . One year later, Pearl started its own online shop and the domain www.pearl.de. The catalog now has around 260 pages and, according to Pearl, has a print run of 13 million copies per year. The Pearl Communication & Consulting GmbH was founded 1999th In mid-2010, Pearl bought the factory site of the former Gubor chocolate factory in Müllheim and expanded the storage capacity on site by 9,000 square meters. On May 10, 2012, the shareholders' meeting decided to rename the company Pearl.GmbH . The change was announced in the commercial register on May 29, 2012.

In August 2017, Pearl expanded by purchasing commercial properties in Eschwege and Gittelde , which were previously owned by JAGO . Two different dispatch centers, warehouses, logistics and branches of various special departments will be located at the Eschwege location. The two logistics centers planned in Eschwege will concentrate on the dispatch of large items and express shipments and are designed for a capacity of over 60,000 shipments per day. The storage areas of Eschwege will hold more than 22,000 pallet spaces in the final expansion stage. In addition to the departments necessary for shipping and logistics, it is planned to set up departments / branches from the areas of service, quality management, IT, project management and marketing in the available office wing, depending on the regional staff availability. A technical hotline as well as an order acceptance and information call center should be located in the commercial property in Gittelde with the administration building and warehouses. The company is currently working on expanding the location and is planning to start operations as a storage and shipping location for large products in Gittelde in 2020 .

According to a Spiegel report from 2019, the mail order company sends up to 100,000 shipments per day at peak times.
