Pearl.tv is a German private broadcaster in the teleshopping sector that was founded in December 2011 by the mail order company Pearl and the Enstyle Studios in Buggingen .
The decision to enter the teleshopping market was made as a supplement to classic catalog and internet mailing. The mail-order company Pearl had previously had around 2000 product films produced for a large part of the range since 2009 and was one of the first mail-order companies in Germany to integrate such clips in its online shop. More than 11,000 product films, video podcasts and broadcast recordings from the station are available in the Pearl media library on YouTube .
history
On February 17, 2012, EnStyle was granted a broadcast license by the Commission for Approval and Supervision (ZAK) and the State Office for Communication Baden-Württemberg (LfK).
The unofficial broadcast of pearl.tv took place on February 29, 2012 via SES Astra digital on the former broadcasting slot of the music channel Yavido . The start of the program was announced in the media for weeks.
In November 2012, the program was switched from SD to HD resolution via satellite .
On July 28, 2014, another standard resolution (SD) broadcasting slot was put into operation via the Astra 19.2 ° East satellite. The broadcast in the resolution UHDTV (pearl.tv UHD 4K) started on September 4, 2015 at the IFA in Berlin and ended on September 30, 2019.
The broadcast via the cable network operator Unitymedia was discontinued in January 2017.
Pearl.tv has been broadcasting from Dassel since 2018 . A commercial property from JAGO was taken over for this purpose. The new broadcasting center with a studio area of over 2,700 m² was built on the 75,000 m² area and in around 21,900 m² of building space.
On July 14, 2019, the station introduced a new station logo and on-air design.
The station can be received in HD resolution in the Pÿur cable network .

Program content
At pearl.tv they rely on a predominantly technical range and aim to appeal primarily to male viewers. pearl.tv describes itself as a consulting and shopping channel. The product selection is based on the range of the mail order company Pearl and at the end of 2012 included around 16,000 items from the areas of entertainment electronics, PC accessories, mobile phones , tablet PCs , but also products from the areas of sports, leisure, household, car accessories and toys.
After pearl.tv mainly broadcast recordings in the first few months, more and more live programs have been broadcast since September 2012. In January 2015, the proportion of live broadcasts was up to eight hours per day.

The television program was produced in the EnStyle studios built in 2011 in Buggingen. In 2015, the entire HD technology was replaced by 4K technology. Since September 2015, pearl.tv has been the first television station in Europe to produce and broadcast a daily live program in UHD . The broadcasting center has been in Dassel since 2018.
Pearl.tv broadcasts with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels on the HD channel. With 3840 × 2160 pixels and 50 frames per second, it was broadcast in parallel on the UHD channel via Astra digital 19.2 ° East until September 30, 2019.
