Pedro José Cuesta Fernández (born August 22, 1983 ) is a Spanish athlete who specializes in the discus throw .

Athletic career

Pedro José Cuesta gained his first international experience in 2002 when he was eliminated from the qualification at the Junior World Championships in Kingston with a width of 50.28 m with the 1.75 m discus, as well as at the U23 European Championships the following year in Bydgoszcz with 52.35 m. Two years later he again took part in the U23 European Championships in Erfurt , but failed to make a valid attempt in qualifying. In 2007 he finished seventh at the Summer Universiade in Bangkok with 56.76 m and in 2008 he won the silver medal behind the Argentine Jorge Balliengo at the Ibero-American Championships in Iquique with 57.67 m . The following year he was eliminated from the qualification at the Student World Games in Belgrade with 53.30 m, as well as two years later at the Summer Universiade in Shenzhen with 54.05 m. In 2012 he won the bronze medal at the Ibero-American Championships in Barquisimeto with 59.77 m behind the Argentinean Germán Lauro and Ronald Julião from Brazil and in 2016 he secured himself at the Ibero-American Championships in Rio de Janeiro with a distance of 57.37 m the silver medal behind Julião.
