Around 1950, Entralgo coined the term “ Heidelberg School ” in his “Historia Medica” , the aim of which was “to be an activity by people for people ”. Entralgo described the Heidelberg School, the combination of scientific training and anthropological orientation, as the " breakthrough on a new path in the history of medicine ." Entralgo saw Sigmund Freud's revolutionary contribution to the description of diagnosis in medicine, psychiatry and psychoanalysis in the introduction of the life story or the biographical narrative of the patient as an integral part of the anamnesis. Entralgo saw this claim realized in the Heidelberg School.
