Pedro Bonifacio Suárez Pérez , known as Arico Suárez , (born June 5, 1908 in Las Palmas , † April 18, 1979 in Buenos Aires ) was a Spanish - Argentine soccer player who played with the national team of Argentina at the 1930 World Cup in Uruguay participated.
Career
Suárez was born in Las Palmas , Gran Canaria , but emigrated to Argentina with his parents at a young age .
He began his career at the Argentine club Ferro Carril Oeste . The now second-rate club from Buenos Aires was one of the top clubs in the country in the 20s . There Suárez caught the attention of the Boca Juniors . With the team from the poor district of La Boca , in which Argentine greats such as Diego Maradona , Gabriel Batistuta and Juan Sebastián Verón were later active, Suárez won the Argentine championship five times . For the first time Suarez was with the team in 1930 before Estudiantes de La Plata in the table first. A year later, the club was able to defend its title, this time first ahead of CA San Lorenzo . In the following season they lost the title to local rival River Plate , the Boca Juniors were only fourth. As runner-up in the preseason they secured the title again in 1934 before CA Independiente . The following year they could defend the Argentine title, again before Independiente. Pedro Suárez won a fifth championship with Boca Juniors in 1940 .
With the Argentine national football team , Suárez took part in the first world championship in history, in 1930 . In Uruguay , the Argentines reached the final, but failed there against the hosts 2: 4. At the World Cup, Suarez completed his first of a total of 12 international matches in which he scored a goal. He was also used in the final of Centenario , but did not attract much attention. He made his last international match in 1940. Two years later he ended his career.
