Peer is a German band from Berlin that was founded in 2007. Their music is German-speaking indie rock with influences from folk and also classical singer-songwriter music.

history

The head of the band is the musician and journalist Peer Göbel. As a journalist, he made a name for himself with his music video blog undertube.tv , which was nominated for a Grimme Online Award in 2008. As a singer, Göbel has been a member of the band Le Mobilé since 2000 . In 2005 and 2007 he released two solo albums with self-written songs under the name Peer .

In December 2007 he formed a band project with four other musicians under this name. The other members, Martin "Marv" Thomas (drums), Philipp Guhr (piano), Daniel von Fromberg (guitar) and Karsten Dauwe (bass), are also established musicians and come from various Berlin bands. Marv Thomas, for example, was previously with Hund on the beach . In June 2009 Karsten Dauwe left the band and was replaced by Thomas Heinrich.

Peer toured in 2009 and 2010 with ClickClickDecker and Ja, Panik, among others , and played a few selected concerts and festivals in Germany.

In addition, they made joint recordings for an album release. The first single "Schutzraum" was released on August 20, 2010 on the Sitzer Records / Broken Silence label, the debut album "Wir sind Peer" followed on October 15, 2010. It is the first production by Björn Sonnenberg and Jan Niklas Jansen, members of Locas in love and carpathian dog .

The recordings for the new album were recorded live in two sessions in the band's rehearsal room; produced and mixed by Sven van Thom . In autumn 2013, the band started a crowdfunding campaign at Startnext , the successful outcome of which enabled the album to be produced on vinyl. May 2, 2014 is currently communicated as the release date for the new album.
