Peggie Castle

Peggie Castle (* 22. December 1927 as Peggy Thomas Blair in Appalachia , Virginia ; † 11. August 1973 in Hollywood , California ) was an American actress .

Life

Castle began her career as a model. In 1947 she had her first film role, still under the pseudonym Peggy Call . A few small uncredited roles followed before making a career in B-movie productions in the 1950s . The blonde starred in two Mickey Spillane films, The Judge I Am and The Long Waiting . She has appeared in numerous westerns and some science fiction films , including Beginning of the End . In larger Hollywood productions she had smaller roles, including in the adventure film Die Piratenbraut and the drama Die Ambgeizige .

After her first television appearances from 1953, including in the western series Rauchende Colts and Cheyenne , she received the role of saloon owner Lily Merrill in 1959 in the western series Lawman , which she played in 106 episodes until it was discontinued in 1962. For this she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 . After that, she only made one final appearance, in an episode of The People at Shiloh Ranch series .

Castle was married four times, including to assistant director William McGarry . Their only child was born from this marriage. Towards the end of her career, she suffered from alcoholism and died of cirrhosis of the liver at the age of 46 .
