The Pelyül Monastery ( Tib . : dpal yul dgon pa; Chin. Báiyù Sì 白玉 寺) is the founding monastery of the Pelyül School, a sub- school of the Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism . The Pelyül Monastery, along with Kathog , Mindrölling , Dzogchen , Shechen and Dorje Drag, is one of the so-called “Six Large Seating” of the Nyingma and was one of the five large sacrificial temples of Dege Tusi .
It is located in the Pelyül (Baiyü) district of the same name in Karze (Garzê) in Sichuan . It was founded in 1675 by Rigdzin Künsang Sherab (1636–1699), the monastery is the seat of the Namchö Terma des Tertön Migyur Dorje (1645–1667). His Holiness Penor Rinpoche was the 11th holder of the throne in the Pelyül line. After his death in March 2009, the 5th Karma Cake became the 12th holder of the throne.
It differed from other Nyingmapa monasteries in teaching and practicing the exoteric and esoteric teachings because it was associated in the rituals with the Martshangpa ( smar tshang pa ) sub - school of the Phagdru Kagyu school.
