Coaching career

As a coach, Mörsdorf led VfB Theley in 2000 to the Oberliga Südwest. From 2001 to 2003 Mörsdorf was coach of the upper division SC Idar-Oberstein . From 2003 to 2006 he worked for the league competitor Borussia Neunkirchen , with whom he won the championship in the 2004/05 season. Since the club did not apply for a regional league license, they stayed in the league. In October 2007 he took over the training of FK Pirmasens, who also played in the Oberliga Südwest . Under his direction, the FKP slipped from 5th to 10th place in the table and he ended his activity at the end of the season at his own request.

From 2008 Werner Mörsdorf was the coach of the south-west association division SG Blaubach-Diedelkopf. In early December 2010, he was released due to a series of defeats. In April 2011 he took over the coaching position at the Saarland league club FC Freisen and announced his resignation in September 2012. In November 2016 he returned to his former club Borussia Neunkirchen as a coach.
