The common mushroom mushroom ( Peniophorella praetermissa , Syn. Hyphoderma praetermissum , Peniophorella pertenuis , Peniophorella torquata ) is a species of fungus from the class Agaricomycetes with an unclear family affiliation.

features

The fungus forms spread, thin-skinned fruit bodies that adhere firmly to the substrate. The edge is not fibrous. The surface is smooth and of a pure white color, later more or less yellowish to light ocher in color. It is a little torn when dry.

The hyphae structure is monomitic, the hyphae themselves are hyaline and strongly branched. There are buckles on the septa . Encrusted hyphidia are not present. The thin-walled Leptocystiden are 50 to 100 micrometers long and eight to twelve micrometers wide. They are smooth or loosely encrusted at the tip and sometimes shaped like a head. Stephano cysts are rarely present; Lampro and echinocystidia are absent. The spores are cylindrical in shape, flattened on one side, rarely indented, colorless, smooth and measure 7–12 × 4–5.5 micrometers.

Species delimitation

The common porridge bark mushroom is very variable. The frequency, size and type of incrustations as well as the number of Stephano cysts are very variable. Therefore, even for connoisseurs, it is sometimes difficult to separate these and related species that can only be identified microscopically.

ecology

The fungus is found mainly in beech and beech-fir forests. It can also be found in alluvial forests of black alder, ash-black alder and common oak and field elm . It colonizes rotten trunks, branches and twigs of deciduous and coniferous trees on the underside or on the side, sometimes also older wood fungi. The fruiting bodies can be found in spring and autumn. In damp, mild weather also all year round.

distribution

The common mushroom mushroom is common in the Holarctic , South Africa and Southeast Asia. In the Holarctic it is found meridional to temperate and has been proven in the USA, Europe and Iran. In Europe it is widespread from Atlantic to Central Europe. It can be found from France in the west to Poland in the east and south to Austria and north to the Hebrides , the Shetland Islands and Norway. The mushroom can also be found in the Canary Islands . In Germany, the area extends from the Upper Rhine and the Bavarian Alps to the Danish border, where it is scattered. Regional densification and loosening areas arise from climatic deviations.
