Pentedrone is a psychoactive substance , is within the group of amphetamines to the cathinone - derivatives . When taken by humans, it has a stimulating and strongly entactogenic effect . Pentedrone has often been a main component of so-called bath salt drugs or legal highs since 2010 .

Pharmacological properties

Pentedrone is effective nasally, orally , inhalatively and intravenously. Pentedrone belongs to the group of active substances called stimulants with the following noticeable effects:

  • Physical: increased heartbeat , increased blood pressure , vasoconstriction , sweating
  • Mentally: Euphoria, increased vigilance and attention, suppression of tiredness, increased mental arousal, intensification of colors, nausea, restlessness and restlessness as well as suppressed need for food and sleep.

The euphoric effects last for about one to two hours. The aftereffects are palpitations , high blood pressure and a slight stimulation that lasts for 6–8 hours. At higher doses, intense panic attacks have been observed in users who are intolerant to stimulants. In addition, sleep deprivation-related psychoses and addictive behavior with high doses or regular use have been reported. When consuming it, there is an urge to re-dose ( craving ), which is then often limited by the unpleasant side effects ( bruxism , tachycardia , nausea ) that occur with higher doses.

Legal position

In Germany, Pentedron has been listed in Appendix II of the Narcotics Act since July 17, 2013 with the 27th Narcotics Amendment Ordinance , and is thus classified as a drug that can be sold but is not a prescription drug.
