Pepel is a place in Sierra Leone . It is located on the river island of the same name, separated from the mainland by a narrow river . It is connected with a car and railway bridge from the opposite mainland town of Sengbe .

Pepel is located in the Chiefdom Lokomasama (also Loko Massama ), Port Loko district in the North West Province and is separated from the capital Freetown by the Sierra Leone River . The inhabitants belong mainly to the Temne ethnic group .

The port of Pepel is located on site , from which mainly iron ore is shipped. In addition to the port, fishing and rice cultivation are other sources of income for the population.
