Peppa Pig (in English original: Peppa Pig ) is a British animated - television series for children. The series is invented and directed by Neville Astley and Mark Baker , the series is produced by Phil Davies and distributed by E1 Kids . So far, six seasons (420 episodes) have been broadcast and sold in 180 countries. The first season with 52 episodes was first aired in May 2004 on Channel 5 ; the American premiere took place in August 2005 on the Cartoon Network . A permanent live stream has been availableon the YouTube video portal since June 6, 2018.

The eponymous main character Peppa Wutz ("Wutz" is a synonym for pig in South and Central West Germany) is a female piglet who, like the other animals on the show, is humanized . The episodes, each around 5 minutes long, deal with situations from the everyday life of the child audience such as cycling , playground , flea market in kindergarten , soap bubbles , vacation on the beach .
After complaints about Peppa and her family not wearing seat belts in the car for the first two seasons, Astley Baker Davies announced that the characters would wear seat belts in all future episodes and that key scenes from the first two seasons would be reworked accordingly. The same applies to missing bicycle helmets .

Pig family
Peppa Pig (originally Peppa Pig ) is the main character of the series, a 4-year-old pig girl. She lives with her parents, Mama Wutz (Mummy Pig) and Papa Wutz (Daddy Pig) and her two-year-old brother Schorsch (George) in a house on a hill. Peppa visited the preschool, they often ride a bicycle or sled, meet with their friends or doing something with their parents or grandparents, grandpa Wutz and grandma Wutz (Grandpa Pig and Grandma Pig) . She has a goldfish named Goldi. Schorsch mostly plays with his toy dinosaur named Sausier . The children love to jump around in puddles of mud in their rubber boots. Papa Wutz works in the design office of a construction company, Mama Wutz works on the computer at home. Papa Wutz's hobbies include playing football and painting landscapes, and in the past also drums, diving and classical ballet (with Mama Wutz). He is also the world record holder in puddle jumping. Mama Pig is involved in the volunteer fire brigade or goes to the gym. Mama Wutz's father Grandpa Wutz used to be a seaman, he owns a boat and a miniature locomotive on wheels, and is also an enthusiastic allotment gardener and amateur astronomer. Grandma Pig has a garden and raises chickens. The two have a parrot named Polly Birdie (Polly Parrot) . The brother of Papa Wutz, Uncle Wutz (Uncle Pig) , also has two children who are somewhat older cousin Chloe (Chloe's cousin) and baby Alexander .
Family spoon
Peppa's girlfriend Luisa (Rebecca Rabbit) and Linus Löffel (Richard Rabbit) , Schorsch's best friend, belong to the spoon family . In the course of the series (S5: E7), twin siblings Lotte Löffel and Laurenz Spoon (Rosie Rabbit and Robby Rabbit) are added. Papa Spoon is Papa Pig's manager. Mama Spoon looks after the children and has a twin sister, Mrs. Mümmel . This has a lot of different professions, u. a. Ice cream seller, bus driver, train driver, librarian, supermarket cashier, helicopter pilot. In one episode she is even recognized by the Queen as a citizen who works the hardest. The children's grandfather is Opi Mümmel (Grandpa Rabbit) , an adventurer, jack of all trades and storyteller, who built his own submarine at his boatyard. He is also a sports teacher, lighthouse keeper and plays the banjo.
Locke family
Luzie Locke (Suzie Sheep) is Peppa's best friend. She likes to dress up as a nurse. Her mother, Mrs. Locke, is believed to be a single parent as the father is never mentioned.
The Kläff family
Klausi Kläff (Danny Dog) likes to dress up as a pirate. His father, Captain Kläff , goes to sea and can only be seen in one episode. Klausi lives with his grandfather, Grandpa Kläff (Grandpa Dog) . He is Grandpa Pig's best friend, but the two of them argue and tease each other all the time. B. who of the two has the better boat. He also has a towing company and a gas station.
Zebra family
Zoë Zebra and her twin sisters Susi and Sina Zebra (Zuzu and Zaza) . The father, Mr. Zebra (Mr. Zebra) is a postman and enjoys playing the piano in his spare time. His wife has a pottery.
Family elephant
Emily Elefant can trumpet extremely loudly, her little brother Edmund Elefant (Edmond Elephant) is a little cunning who already knows all kinds of things. Her father is the dentist Dr. Elephant .
Family pony
Pedro Pony is a bit sleepy and forgetful. He wears glasses and likes to dress up as a superhero or a cowboy. He has an insect as a pet. His father, Mr Pony, is an optician.
Fuchs family
Freddy Fuchs (Freddy Fox) has an excellent nose. His father, Mr. Fox (Mr. Fox) , is a traveling dealer and has everything, really everything in the range, mostly in packs of 3, 5 or 10.
Giraffe family
Gerald Giraffe (Gerald Giraffe) is the newest student in Peppa's class. He's a giraffe and that's why he's bigger than the other kids. His father, Mr. Giraffe , works as a zoo keeper.
More figures
Madame Gazelle is the children's preschool teacher. She is a bit older because she had already taught the children's parents. She has a French accent and also teaches music and ballet. She plays the electric guitar and has already been on vacation in South America and Spain.
Mr. Bulle (Mister Bull) is part of Papa Pig's soccer team. He works in road construction, as a taxi driver and in garbage collection. In his spare time he plays the tuba.
Elena Esel (Delphine Donkey) is Peppa's French pen pal who comes to visit in two episodes.
The Kangaroo family is visiting from Australia. They love rain, barbecue and can jump particularly high.
Doctor Hamster (Doctor Hamster) is a veterinarian and has a turtle named Knirpsi. She sometimes flies her plane to her missions.
Mister Kartoffel (Mister Potato) is a popular TV star who can be seen as a detective and host of the mud puddle competition.

The Peppa Pig brand generated Entertainment One (eOne) more than £ 200 million in 2010 revenue from merchandise sales in the UK alone.
Ubisoft developed video game versions for Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS .
In April 2011, the Paultons Park amusement park near Ower in Hampshire opened the Peppa Pig World themed area .
In March 2018, the Heide Park Resort amusement park in Soltau opened the Peppa Pig Land themed area with 4 attractions.
