Percy Herbert

Percy Herbert (born July 31, 1920 in London , England , † December 6, 1992 in England) was a British film actor . He played mostly soldiers and was best known for the film The Bridge on the Kwai .

biography

Herbert served as a soldier on the front lines during the Second World War and was captured by the Japanese when they took Singapore , but was then released. He began his acting career in the early fifties. He starred in comedies such as Captain Seasick , Casino Royal and Bob on Safari and in science fiction films such as The Mysterious Island . He is also involved in TV series such as Der Marshall von Cimarron , Simon Templer and Dixon of Dock Green . His work includes more than 110 film and television productions. He died of a heart attack at the age of 72 .
