Perehoniwka ( Ukrainian Перегонівка ; Russian Перегоновка Peregonowka ) is a village in the west of the Ukrainian Oblast Kirowohrad with about 3400 inhabitants (2001).
The village, first mentioned in writing in 1760, is the administrative center of the district council of the same name in the north of Holovanivsk district , to which the villages Dawydiwka ( Давидівка , ⊙ ) with about 240 inhabitants, Polonyste ( Полонисте , ⊙ ) with about 400 inhabitants and the settlement Lisne ( Лісне , ⊙ ) with about 210 inhabitants.
The village lies on the border with Uman Raion of Cherkassy Oblast on the bank of the Jatran ( Ятрань ), a 104 km long right tributary of the Synjucha 22 km north of the district center Holovanivsk and about 145 km west of the Oblast center Kropyvnytskyi . Through the village runs the territorial road T-12-15 . Perehoniwka had a connection to the narrow-gauge network Hajworon .
The battle of Peregonovka between the revolutionary insurgent army of Ukraine under the command of Nestor Makhno and Fedosiy Shchus and the White Army under the command of Yakov Alexandrovich Slashchev took place near the village on September 26, 1919, which was won by the Makhovshchina and one had an immense influence on the course of the Russian civil war .
