Pereskiopsis blakeana is a species of plant in the genus Pereskiopsis from the cactus family(Cactaceae). Spanish trivial names are "Coconoxtle" and "Joconoxtle".

description

Pereskiopsis blakeana grows shrubby to tree-shaped , mostly branches at the base and reaches heights of 1 to 3 meters. A clear, short trunk is formed. The cylindrical, ascending, bare, green shoots turn brownish with age and have a diameter of 3 to 6 millimeters. The leaf blade of the leaves is pointed at both ends and is 2.8 to 6 centimeters long and 1.5 to 3 centimeters wide. The circular areoles are tomentose and richly covered with yellow to reddish glochids 2 to 4 millimeters long . There are one to three thorns on the shoots , they are more numerous on the trunk. They are black to gray, darker at their base and 2 to 7 inches long.

The yellow flowers reach a diameter of 3.7 to 4.3 centimeters and are 3.8 to 5 centimeters long. Your pericarpel is provided with bracts . The pear-shaped, reddish green to greyish green fruits have a diameter of 0.8 to 2 centimeters and are 3 to 6 millimeters long.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Pereskiopsis blakeana is distributed in the Mexican states of Durango , Sinaloa and Michoacán at altitudes of 50 to 300 meters.

It was first described in 1929 by Jesús González Ortega .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered. The development of the population is seen as decreasing.
