geography

history

Pernhofen was first mentioned in a document as Perenhoven in 1240. In 1351 Chunrat von Schaunberg transferred his property to Pernhofen to his uncle Stephan von Meissau. In 1360 possessions of the Waldhausen monastery in Pernhofen can be verified. The rule over Pernhofen belonged to Staatz , in whose land register the place is referred to as a desert in 1569 . Pernhofen probably fell into desolation between 1459 and 1468, when Georg von Podiebrad devastated the area. In 1601 the Pernhofen deserted area was sold by Christoph von Breuner to Wulzeshofen . Ten years later, Pernhofen passed to Elisabeth von Kuering, wife of Hagenberg and Stronsdorf. Pernhofen remained under the rule of Stronsdorf until 1857, when it was bought by Karl Kammel, Edlen von Hardegg. He built a sugar factory in Pernhofen, which he converted into a spirit distillery in 1867. In 1901 the distillery in Pernhofen became the property of the Lederer family and thus became the starting point for the later Pernhofen production plant of the Jungbunzlauer company.
