Peter Beets (born June 12, 1971 in The Hague ) is a Dutch jazz pianist and composer.

Both his brother Marius Beets (* 1966, bassist) and Alexander Beets (* 1968, tenor saxophonist) are jazz musicians. Beets grew up in Groenlo and studied at the Conservatory in The Hague from 1992, initially also studying law. He played with his brothers as The Beets Brothers from 1988 , with a debut album in 1990, which was followed by two more albums. In 1996, while still a student, he released his own trio album First Date with Jeff Hamilton on drums. In 1998 he graduated from the Conservatory and won the Martial Solal Prize in Paris. Since 1998 he has been a regular pianist with the Concertgebouw Jazz Orchestra. In 2001 he released his first CD for Criss Cross, New York Trio with Rodney Whitaker and Willie Jones III , which was followed by another five albums with changing trio line-ups (some with guitar instead of drums). Beets toured the world with his trio, had engagements in Birdland , for example, and performed, for example, in Lincoln Center and in a duo with Chick Corea in the Concertgebouw. In the Netherlands he had theater tour programs for example to Chopin meets the Blues (title of an album at Criss Cross 2010), Porgy and Bess , Tribute to Oscar Peterson and Bach meets the Blues . He toured with the Rosenberg Trio , Rita Reys and Louis van Dijk .

In 2010 he received an Edison Jazz Award for Blues for the Date with the Concertgebouw Jazz Orchestra.
