origin

He came from the East Prussian noble family Perbandt and was the son of Friedrich Erdmann von Perbandt (1737–1776) and his wife Wilhelmine Amalie Philippine, born von Wedel from the Daugzin family († May 25, 1793 in Neuwedel). His father was a Prussian second lieutenant a. D. and Mr. on Flakensee.

Military career

Perbandt attended the cadet schools in Stolp and Berlin. Subsequently, on March 23, 1788 he was employed as portepeef ensign in the infantry regiment "Prince Ferdinand" of the Prussian army in Neuruppin . As a secondary lieutenant he took part in the campaign against France in 1793/95 , was in the siege of Mainz and fought near Kettrichhof , Trippstadt and Weißenburg. Promoted to staff captain on May 7, 1807 and deployed to the general staff, he joined General von Kleist in Frankfurt (Oder) at the end of 1808 .

Despite the army reductions imposed on Prussia by Napoleon in the Tilsit Peace Treaty, Perbandt remained in active service and in 1812 became major in the general staff of the Yorck Corps. He had so proven himself in several skirmishes that Major General von Kleist asked in a report dated October 3, 1812 to his Commander-in-Chief, General von Yorck , that Perbandt (and others) be proposed to the King for an award. Kleist's report to Yorck states, among other things:

... Your Excellency kindly permit me to ask the same to recommend my adjutants to the King's Majesty in such a way that the Most High may grant them a sign of the Most High of Contentment .... '. On October 9, 1812, Yorck reported to the king. .... 'because of excellent exertion and faithful fulfillment of duties in the earlier skirmishes at Wollgund, especially on September 29th evening at Cyopen ... Major von Perbandt fulfilled his duties in the previous skirmishes at Eckau and Wollgund with the strictest verbal understanding. .

King Friedrich Wilhelm III. granted the request with the highest cabinet order of October 18, 1812 to Yorck.

... if I do complete justice to the laudable perseverance of the troops ... I am also happy to take the opportunity to grant you the satisfaction that it was only through your wise arrangement that it was possible in the battles against an enemy superior in armed forces to achieve complete victory .... By this I give ... the major von Perbandt the VO ...
