history

The Perbandt were a noble family residing in Samland , originally named Quedenau and Windekaym after their ancestral seats. They were not subject to any feudal lords before they were subjugated to the Teutonic Knights . The first documented family member was Sklode de Quedenau, nobilis, who lived from about 1200 to 1261. His son Nalube von Quedenau, nobilis, was only later subjugated after the death of his father, whose brothers and cousins are also mentioned in the Matricula Fischusiana on April 25, 1296 as nobilis, so they had already come to terms with the order and were its vassals . The descendant of Sklodes, Slobote, is referred to as dominus in the document book of the Samland diocese . Since 1261 at the latest, the sex was entitled to high jurisdiction . The safe line of trunks begins with Perbandt von Windekaym, documented 1335-1395, who has been sealed with the Windekaym coat of arms since 1363.

The family was above all wealthy in East Prussia , and in the 18th century also in Pomerania .
