Peter Blond
Peter Blond (born November 5, 1929 ) is a British entrepreneur and former racing car driver .
family
Peter Blond was born to Sir Neville Blond and his wife Eileen. His father (1896–1970) was a well-known industrialist and art patron . When he died in 1970 he was Honorary President of the English Stage Company . His older brother was the publisher and author Anthony Blond .
Racing career
Peter Blond was active as a sports car driver in the 1950s . Thanks to the considerable family fortune, he was able to finance his racing activities himself. Several racing cars were in his possession. In 1955 he competed in national sports car races in Great Britain with a Jaguar C-Type . He replaced the C-Type with a D-Type in 1956 and won a race in Snetterton . In 1957 he drove a works HWM in the British Sports Car Championship and won the non-championship races at Brands Hatch and Oulton Park for the team from Walton-on-Thames .
In 1958 he drove a Tojero together with Tommy Bridger at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and was sixth overall at the RAC Tourist Trophy with partner Duncan Hamilton .
1959 was his last season as an active racing driver. He started for Brian Lister at Le Mans , but, like last year, did not finish. The missions in the 1000 km race on the Nürburgring and in the RAC Tourist Trophy also ended with failures.
Blond McIndoe Research Foundation
In 1963, Peter Blond founded the Blond McIndoe Research Foundation together with Archibald McIndoe . With 300,000 pounds sterling from the family fortune he laid the basis for a foundation , the research contracts for the treatment of burns awards.
