Peter Brabeck-Letmathe (born November 13, 1944 in Villach ) is an Austrian manager. From 2005 to 2017 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nestlé .

Life

Peter Brabeck-Letmathe passed his Matura at the Peraugymnasium in Villach in 1962 .

After studying economics at the University of World Trade in Vienna , Brabeck began working for Nestlé Austria as a specialist in new products in 1968. In 1997, he replaced Helmut Maucher as Chairman of the Executive Committee at Nestlé. From 2005 to 2017 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors . On April 10, 2008, he resigned as CEO of Nestlé. His successor was the long-time head of Nestlé's America business, Paul Bulcke . Paul Bulcke also succeeded him as Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2017.

After a name change, Peter Brabeck-Letmathe bears the name of the noble family Brabeck , who died out in the 19th century and who owned the Letmathe family in what is now the area of ​​the town of Iserlohn from 1573 to 1812 and accordingly assumed the title Letmathe.

In 2012, the Swiss business magazine Bilanz estimated his fortune at 150 million Swiss francs. Despite being diagnosed with cancer in 2014, Brabeck-Letmathe was able to continue performing its duties, according to Nestlé. He announced his resignation in spring 2017.
