Peter Brandt (clergyman)

Peter Brandt (born July 22, 1948 in Osterode am Harz ) is a Lutheran theologian and former Protestant military dean general of the German Bundeswehr .

Life

Brandt attended grammar school in his hometown of Osterode and studied Protestant theology from 1968 to 1973 at the Bethel Church University and at the University of Göttingen . Between 1974 and 1977 he completed the vicariate and took up a graduate scholarship.

In 1977 he entered the service of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Braunschweig and took over the rural pastor of Bettmar with Sierße in the Vechelde provost . Peter Brandt received his doctorate in 1984 and in the same year became director of studies at the preacher's seminary in Braunschweig . In 1989 he was appointed provost of the provost of Bad Gandersheim am Harz.

Since 1994 Peter Brandt has been active in the Protestant military chaplaincy in the German Federal Armed Forces, for a long time as Evangelical Defense Area Dean II in Hanover and from 2005 until his retirement in 2010 as Military General Dean of the Evangelical Church Office for the Federal Armed Forces .
