Peter Gasser (psychiatrist)

Peter Gasser (* 1960 ) is a Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist .

Live and act

Gasser studied medicine at the universities of Freiburg im Üechtland and Bern from 1980 to 1986 and passed the state examination in Bern in 1986 . A year later he received his doctorate with Theodor Abelin in Bern . After years as an assistant doctor at the Medical Clinic of the Solothurn Citizens' Hospital, the Psychiatric University Polyclinic Bern and the Cantonal Psychiatric Clinic Solothurn, he received the title of FMH specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy in 1992 . From 1992 to 1996 he worked as a senior physician at the Cantonal Psychiatric Clinic in Solothurn. Gasser has completed training and further education in problem-oriented therapy , contextual family therapy , psycholytic psychotherapy and bioenergetic analysis . Since 1997 he has been working in his own practice in Solothurn .

Since 1997 he has been President of the Swiss Medical Society for Psycholytic Therapy, founded in 1985 at the suggestion of Peter Baumann . From 2005 to 2013 he was President of the Society for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the Canton of Solothurn .

Gasser became known for his legal LSD therapy.
