Peter Gillies

Peter Gillies (born May 29, 1939 in Berlin ) is a German business journalist . He was editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper Die Welt .

Life

After completing an apprenticeship as a banker and working in a bank, Peter Gillies studied business administration at the Free University of Berlin from 1962 to 1966 , which he completed with a degree in business administration. He went to the Axel Springer Group and initially volunteered at Die Welt in Hamburg. From 1967 he worked as a business correspondent in Berlin and was head of the office in Bonn. In 1981 he became deputy editor-in-chief and in 1985 editor-in-chief of the world (until 1988). In 1989 he graduated from the Justus Liebig University in Giessen with a dissertation on business journalism in transition. Requirement profile and qualification in the transition to Dr. rer. pole. PhD . From 1992 to 1995 he was again editor-in-chief. Since then he has been working as a freelance journalist.
