Peter Huber

Peter Huber (born October 16, 1967 in Kitzbühel ) is an Austrian diplomat who has been ambassador to Berlin since December 1, 2017 .

Education

After attending the federal high school in St. Johann in Tirol , he studied law at the University of Innsbruck from 1987 to 1992 . From 1992 to 1994 he was a participant in the 29th diploma course at the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna . From 1994 to 1995 he was a Master of Laws at Georgetown University Law School. In 1995 he received his doctorate in law from the University of Innsbruck .

Career

In January 1996 joined the foreign service and was employed in the legal and consular section of the citizen service until September 1996. From September 1996 to March 1997 he was employed in the International Organizations Department. From March 1997 to October 1997 he was assigned to the permanent representation of Austria next to the UN headquarters . From October 1997 to August 1999 he was employed in the International Organizations Department. From August 1999 to August 2002 he was counselor next to the UN headquarters . From September 2002 to March 2005 he was Counselor in Paris . From March 2005 to July 2008 he was employed in the International Organizations department, which he became deputy head of in November 2005. From August 2008 to April 2011 he headed the International Organizations department. From April 2011 to September 2012 he was head of the office of State Secretary in the Foreign Ministry Wolfgang Waldner . From September 2012 to December 2013 he was head of the office of the State Secretary in the Foreign Ministry Reinhold Lopatka .

From January 2014 to November 2017 he was ambassador in Madrid and was co-accredited in Andorra . He has been an ambassador in Berlin since 2017.

Teaching

  • Since 2007 he has lectured at the Diplomatic Academy on issues relating to the United Nations and multilateral diplomacy
  • From 2009 to 2011 he had a lectureship at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Vienna on the subject of "The United Nations in the 21st Century"
  • In 2017 he was a lecturer at the Pontifical University of Comillas .
