Peter Hummrich (born December 4, 1929 in Lüdenscheid ; † February 10, 2000 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) was a German journalist and politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the city ​​council of Ludwigshafen am Rhein for 30 years .

education and profession

In 1948, Peter Hummrich and Jockel Fuchs , who later became editor-in-chief and Mayor of Mainz, volunteered for the social democratic daily newspaper "Die Freiheit" in Mainz . In 1949 he moved to the editorial office in Ludwigshafen am Rhein as local manager. After "Freiheit" was discontinued in 1966, Peter Hummrich worked as local manager for the Südwestdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung (AZ) until 1971. From 1951 to 1966 he also worked as a freelancer for the German Press Agency . As head of the VDE press office in Frankfurt am Main from 1972 onwards . In 1977 he changed to the management of the information and press office of the Technischen Werke Ludwigshafen (TWL) and the transport company Ludwigshafen am Rhein (VBL) . The customer magazine "Kurier" goes back to Peter Hummrich.

In 1947 Peter Hummrich joined the SPD . There he distinguished himself as a member of all election campaign management in Ludwigshafen am Rhein between the 1960s and 1990s. He played a key role in all municipal election programs. From 1964, Peter Hummrich was a member of the board of directors of the Ludwigshafen-Mitte local association, of which he later became chairman. From 1964 to 1994 he was a member of the city council and until 1990 press officer of the SPD parliamentary group. Among his political companions were the former Lord Mayor of Ludwigshafen Werner Ludwig and Hans Bardens ( Member of the Bundestag ), with whom he was also personally friends.

Honorary positions

From 1961 until shortly before his death in 2000, he worked as an honorary judge at the Neustadt an der Weinstrasse administrative court .

Honors

Peter Hummrich was the bearer of the ring of honor of the city of Ludwigshafen am Rhein and the gold badge of honor for the showman trade in Ludwigshafen. He returned the Freiherr vom Stein plaque given to him by the Rhineland-Palatinate Minister of the Interior and Sport Walter Zuber in protest against the disadvantage of Ludwigshafen through the intermunicipal financial equalization scheme.
