Peter II of Luxembourg (French: Pierre de Luxembourg , * around 1440; † October 25, 1482 in Enghien ) from the House of Luxemburg-Ligny was Count of Saint-Pol , Brienne , Marle and Soissons , Lord of Enghien .

Life

In order not to like his father Ludwig I of Luxembourg, Gf. of Saint-Pol , who was executed in Paris for high treason in 1475, between the fronts of Charles the Bold , Duke of Burgundy, and King Louis XI. To get from France, he stayed chiefly in his possession in Enghien. Only after he inherited the counties of Marle and Soissons from his brother Johann , who died childless in the Battle of Murten in 1476 , did he approach the House of Burgundy . In August 1477 he belonged to the court of Duchess Mary of Burgundy and in 1478 he was accepted into the Order of the Golden Fleece . It was thanks to the intervention of the Duchess of Mary that he got back the counties of Saint-Pol and Brienne, which had been expropriated when his father was executed.
