Peter J. Treffler

Peter J. Treffler , also: Pepe de Sein (* 1955 ) is a German artist , publicist and publisher .

Life

After studying cartography at the Technical University of Dresden , he could not practice his profession in the GDR ; The contacts with Polish Solidarność led to the termination of his employment contract before he started work. He was forcibly placed as a construction manager in a socialist company and was later able to quit despite political supervision. As a result, he worked for a time as a freelancer for the architecture-related art office. Until he left the GDR, he worked as a freelance painter , graphic artist and publisher. Since moving from East to West Berlin , he has focused his artistic work in the field of photography and has published in his field.

Treffler lives in Berlin.

Act

Since 1982 he has published graphic works in the unofficial art and literature magazine Entwerter / Oder , edited by Uwe Warnke . From 1986 the first graphic publications were made outside of the GDR, such as B. in West Berlin's KKZR Verlag . In 1987 he founded his own publishing house (Autonom Verlag) and with the publication of "Dialog" creates a literary East-West platform for artists in the GDR. This was followed by publications in Austria and solo exhibitions in Germany (Ambiente: 1989) and Asia ( Scratches : 1998 in Si Sa Ket and Views from Berlin : 1999 in Ubon Ratchathani ). Between 2002 and 2007 self- published photo books about England, Tenerife and Hiddensee. He worked in the artist group Westend .
