Peter Kirsten (born August 29, 1935 in Schwäbisch Hall , † December 5, 2004 in Dietramszell near Munich ) was a German musician , producer and music publisher.

Life

Kirsten became a jazz singer in 1955 and worked with the Max Greger and Hugo Strasser orchestras . He produced radio broadcasts with the big bands of Erwin Lehn and Werner Baumgart. In 1960 Kirsten became a soloist and bassist with the Horst Jankowski Choir. In 1964 he entered the German preliminary round for the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Regenbogen, Regenbogen .

In 1966/67 Peter Kirsten founded the Munich-based Global Musikverlag, which has well-known German and foreign artists under contract. The first artist Kirsten signed at the time was the composer Horst Jankowski . In 1970 Kirsten founded Global Records, the first success of which was in 1972 with singer Joy Fleming and her band Joy Unlimited. Kirsten had other contracts with the duo Hoffmann & Hoffmann ("Raspberry Ice Cream for Breakfast") and with the Englishman Mick Jackson, whose chart hit "Blame It On The Boogie", published by Global, in the version of the "Jackson Five" for Became a world hit. In 1979 Kirsten expanded his company and Arco Studios. Since 1980 he had Gitte Hænning under contract. She celebrated her comeback with Kirsten with the song "Just don't be happy too early". In 1999 Kirsten sold his global music publishing company to Chrysalis. Kirsten died on December 5, 2004 at the age of 69 after a brief, serious illness.
